Resorts World Genting offers a wide variety of food options, ranging from local Malaysian favourites to international cuisines, with choices that will have you struggling to choose where to dine at. This includes farm-to-table hotpot at Awana Garden as well as air-flown lobster from Nova Scotia at Burger & Lobster. However, if you feel peckish before making the drive up, there are also loads of yummy options at Gohtong Jaya, the township located below the peak of Genting Highlands.

We’ve compiled a list of the best restaurants for you to try, including the best mouthwatering dishes.

Restoran Tak Kee

This popular Chinese eatery is located amongst the long stretch of shop houses at the end of the row. It is known for its flavourful dishes such as Minced Ginger Steamed Fish Lips, which has the sharp spiciness of famous Bentong ginger and tanginess of lime. Another fascinating and unique dish is Steamed Egg with Otak-otak, which has a nice sesame oil aroma and generous chunks of fish flakes.

Yik Kee Restaurant

The original restaurant was founded in Karak in 1960, and this branch was established in 1997. It started out as a small shop selling noodles and became a famous restaurant with the introduction of Cantonese dishes and pastries. Their specialty is the Freshwater Prawn Fried Noodle, and the Roasted Duck which uses a secret recipe for the sauce. They also sell traditional pastries such as kaya puffs and their ‘Durian Bomb’, filled with home-grown durian fillings.

San Gong Lamb Hotpot (Gohtong Jaya)

Everyone loves having hotpot in the chilly weather, but you’ve probably never tried charcoal hotpot. This one is a Macau-style hotpot which features a broth-based hotpot with a variety of ingredients. The meat is seasoned and marinated before cooking in a broth that's simmered for an extended period, creating a rich taste. For those who enjoy lamb, try the Macau Lamb Pot which may have a stronger taste for some and add on Lamb Tripe, and dip this in their special beancurd sauce. We also recommend the Hong Kong Spicy Chicken Pot which has a sweet- flavour packed soup base if you don’t fancy having lamb.

Loong Kee Gohtong Jaya

Most of the restaurants along the aforementioned row are good, but my personal favourite is Loong Kee. Just take a look at the crowds inside and you’ll know that you’re making the right choice. This place has fair prices, uses fresh ingredients resulting in scrumptious flavours, and food is delivered at the speed of light. Try their Deep Fried Loong Kee Pork Belly (I’m drooling just thinking about it), a must try with a special sweet sauce created by the founder, Chan Ah See. Another indulgent dish is the Giant River Prawn Soup with Glass Noodles in Claypot, where the tender prawn meat infuses into the soup and is further absorbed by the rice noodles.

66 Corner

If you don’t have a big enough party for a sit-down dinner or just want a quick meal, head to this 24-hour eatery with its comforting dishes. Their standout dish is Wan Tan Mee featuring springy noodles topped with sweet, smoky char siew (roast pork) and crispy siew yoke (roast pork belly). For a spicy kick, slurp up their Curry Mee with Roast Pork or go for the White Pepper Lala Bee Hoon with clams to warm you up.
