As children, most Malaysians grew up visiting Resorts World Genting at some point in their lives to enjoy the cool weather and the myriad of attractions on the mountaintop. With an indoor and outdoor theme park, numerous attractions, shows, events, shopping, and more, there are endless aspects of the resorts to uncover.

Although you may have visited RWG numerous times, there might be some little-known facts you didn’t know about the country’s premier mountain resort. Read on to find out more.

The resort may only be one hour’s drive from KL, but interestingly, you end up visiting two states when you walk around because it is situated on land that comprises 70% Pahang land and 30% Selangor land.

When the late Tan Sri Dato' Seri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong, the Founder of the Genting Group first had the idea of creating the resort, he successfully obtained approval for the alienation of 12,000 acres (4,900 ha) and 2,800 acres (1,100 ha) of land from the Pahang and Selangor State Government respectively between 1965 and 1970.

There Are Endangered Wildlife Such as a Black Panther in the Surrounding Jungle

RWG is actually surrounded by a stunning 130 million years old rainforest. Naturally, this makes it home to a wealth of flora and fauna including a number of endemic, rare, and native species of plants and wildlife. Here, there are endangered dusky leaf monkeys, endangered gibbons (siamang), black panthers (Wakanda forever!) as well as serows (medium-sized goat-like or antelope-like mammals), along with pitcher plants and humongous millipedes. Visitors can try and catch a glimpse of these creatures through nature trails for various fitness levels by enquiring at Resorts World Awana, the nature-inspired resort that’s becoming increasingly popular with wildlife adventurers.
