

Spatulas and saucepans at the ready! Calling all foodies, chefs, and aspiring home cooks because Resorts World Genting is hosting its first-ever culinary competition and there are MAJOR cash prizes up for grabs.
For 60 years, RWG has been a beloved destination for Malaysians and international visitors and we’ve constantly enhanced the country’s dining scene.
This includes bringing over the famous Burger & Lobster from across the pond with its signature dishes and adding new twists of our own such as The Chilli Lobster. Our own fine dining restaurant The Olive has also garnered prestigious awards over the years including 2015 Wine Spectator's Best Award of Excellence. Plus, we’ve introduced innovative culinary food concepts such as Malaysian Food Street, which brings together renowned hawker stalls from across Malaysia in one location such as Penang Char Koay Teow and Kajang Satay.
In addition, anyone who’s familiar with the culinary sphere will be familiar with the HAPA Group, first established in 1994 to produce high quality hospitality, food and beverage, and travel publications for industry owners and operators, those in related corporate industries and, interested travelers. They are also known for creating the HAPA Awards, also known as the ‘Oscars of Hospitality’ to recognise and reward outstanding establishments and individuals in the hospitality field.

In conjunction with Genting’s 60th Anniversary celebration and in preparation for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, RWG, HAPA Group, and Tourism Malaysia are launching the Genting Culinary Classic 2025 cooking competition.
This inaugural event provides a platform for food enthusiasts as well as local and resident chefs aged 18 and above to express their creativity, skills, and passion. Besides the lucrative prizes, winners will have unique opportunities for career advancement and industry exposure. It is also set to become an annual hallmark event that shapes Malaysia’s culinary calendar.

1st Place: Worth RM25,000 (Cash Prize of RM20,000, in-kind prizes worth RM5,000)
Crowned as the Grand National Winner of the Genting Culinary Classic 2025
2nd Place: Worth RM15,000 (Cash Prize of RM11,000, in-kind prizes worth RM4,000)
Honoured as the Esteemed National Winner of the Genting Culinary Classic 2025
3rd Place, 4th Place, 5th Place: Worth RM10,000 (Cash Prize of RM7,000, in-kind prizes worth RM3,000)
Acknowledged as National Winner of the Genting Culinary Classic 2025
On top of that, the winner will have a chance to showcase their winning dishes at Resorts World Genting’s food and beverage outlets.
What You Need To Join
Whether you are a decorated chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant or a passionate home cook, anyone above the age of 18 is eligible to enter. The distinguished panel of five judges will include celebrity chefs and renowned food critics.
The final competition will be held in person, where the top 20 chefs will compete to create a Muslim-friendly dish and be required to adhere to guidelines of no pork, no lard, and no alcohol. A special focus will be placed on innovative interpretations of Malaysian cuisine.
