ICAEW is a well-designed program that allow the students to build a strong foundation in finance and accounting, and also, to encourage students to think strategically in business planning and making business decision.
 
Going through the ICAEW training provide me advantages in climbing the corporate ladder which I am able to provide productive business analysis and value added works to improve the companies’ performance and processes.

Never in a 100 years, would I had guess I'll be a Chartered Accountant one day. I've always grown up, being more in tune with science and math. So much so that it was a no brainer to pursue an engineering major. Then, upon completion of a Master in Engineering degree, as a 21 year old who wanted to explore and take on the world, I decided to challenge the norm and applied to the GENM Finance Trainee Program for 1 of 2 position in the pioneering cohort. It definitely had been a struggle, and there were times I wanted to give up. But through the support system extended by ICAEW and excellent mentors within GENM, I was able to persevere and obtain the ACA qualification.
 
To this day, I believe the GENM ICAEW Programme offers a unique proposition, whereby it allowed me to rotate through the various functions of finance and business units, allowing me as a fresh graduate (then) to take on real-life business problems. The "training" had equipped me with the necessary knowledge and exposure to take on unstructured problems as I've been involved with start-ups of casino properties in the US in the past 10 years.
