What is the ICAEW Chartered Accountant programme?

It is a 3-year training programme in accounting, internal audit and corporate planning functions, combining hands-on experience with academic study to be an ICAEW member. Here are the modules for ICAEW examinations:

Will I be studying full time?

No, you will be undergoing training with Genting Malaysia Berhad while pursuing your studies part time. You will have a designated counsellor during the 3-year working period with the company and during the same period, you are required to sit and pass all ICAEW modules. Trainees will have the opportunity to work across various Finance sections (based on availability) in order to grasp the practical aspects of Finance operations, which will complement their academic training. Trainees will also be expected to gain a hands-on experience on the fundamental processes before embarking on higher level strategic initiatives.

Who can apply for the Genting Malaysia Berhad ICAEW Chartered Accountant?

Any Malaysian citizen who wishes to pursue ICAEW Chartered Accountant provided they meet the requirements stated in the terms and conditions.

What are the criteria for applying for the Genting Malaysia Berhad ICAEW Chartered Accountant?

Fresh graduates with at least a Second Class Upper Honours Degree. Non-Accounting graduates (e.g. Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Law, Economics or Literature) are encouraged to apply as well.

When are the ICAEW Chartered Accountant intakes?

Currently, there are 2 intakes in a year – in March and September. However, we may vary the date of the intakes or add additional intakes.

Can I appeal if I am not shortlisted?

Only applications submitted online to icaew@rwgenting.com before the deadline will be accepted. As such, please refrain from submitting any form of hard copy application manually as it will not be entertained.

Is there a maximum number of exam attempts allowed?

Yes, the ICAEW board only allows maximum of 4 attempts for the professional stage while there is no limit for the advanced stage.

What if I reach the maximum number of exam attempts?

Although the training agreement will be terminated, employment with the Company will be on-going.

Will I be bonded with Genting Malaysia Berhad upon graduation?

You will need to serve a Compulsory Service Period (CSP) with Genting Malaysia Berhad upon admission to membership. The qualified ACA will be put through an intensive training programme which is aimed at grooming the successful ACAs to assume management roles.
